We all have seasons in our life when we are feeling like we are being assaulted and attacked by the enemy. If you are in this difficult season, there is a promise that we can cling to. Let’s look at it.
“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You condemn.” Isaiah 54: 17a
A wise woman of God once told me, “It can form, but it can’t prosper.” If we compare this to a storm forming, we look up into the sky, and we see dark clouds, but the damage or destruction that can come from a huge storm doesn’t occur until that storm is released.
One commentary said it this way, “The LORD will not allow the weapon formed against His servants to prosper. Sometimes this means the LORD takes the weapon out of the hand of the enemy of His servants. Sometimes it means that God allows the weapon to strike but brings a greater good out of it than the pain of the immediate blow. In allowing this, God will not allow the weapon to prosper but transforms the violent sword into a trowel for building His kingdom.” (Guzik)
About the tongue of accusation, here’s what we can learn from this: The tongue that rises against us can really, really hurt.
Satan not only uses the hand, but he uses a stronger weapon, the tongue.
We take longer to recover from slander and accusations. Why? It attacks our character.
In the season of accusation and being slandered, remember we have the Lord of Glory causing us to triumph over our enemy.
This is our heritage, as the saints of the Lord. This is our birthright inheritance, just like the love of the Lord remains for us our heritage.
He tells us that in the rest of the verse: “This [peace, righteousness, security, and triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And this is their vindication from Me,” says the Lord.” Isaiah 54: 17b
Our God shall vindicate (acquit, clear, free, and deliver) us!
HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND? Don’t give in or give up. Keep triumphing over evil by doing good.
