Are we moving forward or backward?
As we examine the image, the track is before us, but the motion detected by the camera is backward, as we focus on both sides of the tracks.
My question today is: What side of the tracks are we living on? Are we focused too much on the past? This hinders us from moving ahead. If we don’t focus on moving forward, we will get sidetracked.
One who is sidetracked turns aside from a purpose and deflects.
The image on either side of the tracks gets blurry, doesn’t it when we live our life in reverse?
When we keep looking back it clouds the vision of what lies ahead.
We have an exhortation from God’s Word this morning, “Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder the things of the past. Behold I will do something new; now it will spring forth. Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43: 18-19
If we keep holding on to the past, how can we grab hold of what God has for us in the future?
Reflection is a step in the healing process, but we cannot dwell or live there. Why? We won’t see the new thing that God wants to do.
He makes roads in the desert and rivers to refresh us.
HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND? Let go of what is keeping you bound. Let go of the hurt and let God refresh, repair, and restore you. We are told to not dwell on the past, and forget the former things. Ask Him to help you release that person who has wronged you and watch Him heal and restore your joy.
