A Dual Identity Crisis

The real you is no longer born of Adam. The real you in Christ is born of the Last Adam!

Personal Identity is one of the most critical things to understand when it comes to a Christians’ Life. Knowing Who you are and why you’re here upon this earth shapes, not only the path you walk while you’re here, but the choices you make along the way.

What many people don’t think about is that you have a Natural Identity given to you by your natural parents, and a Spiritual Identity given to you by your Heavenly Father, and often these two different identities find themselves at odds with one another.

Jesus Christ was known in the natural realm as the son of a carpenter, while in the Spirit realm He was so much more, for He was and is the Son of God. Jesus had an earthly dad, while at the same time, He had a Heavenly Father, but it was the Knowledge of His Heavenly identity which He eventually embraced completely that has caused us to become the heirs of Salvation.

In the same way, every son or daughter on the earth has a “DUAL IDENTITY” the only difference with ours is, that our earthly identity is a fallen one. For that reason (and that reason alone) we needed the Savior so, that we can not only see our Supernatural Identity in Christ but also step into it!

The Born again experience causes us to step into that Supernatural Identity while making our Spiritual Inheritance available to us at the same time, but we must take that old earthly identity and nail it to the Cross so that it’s no longer affecting our future.

Too many of us are trying to live in both Identities at the same time (The Heavenly one and the Fallen one) and this kind of crisis creates an internal wrestling match of incredible proportions.

“For I do not understand my own actions [I am baffled, bewildered]. I do not practice or accomplish what I wish, but I do the very thing that I loathe [[b]which my moral instinct condemns]. Now if I do [habitually] what is contrary to my desire, [that means that] I acknowledge and agree that the Law is good (morally excellent) and that I take sides with it.” Romans 7:15-16

This dual identity problem finds its sole solution in the Cross itself, not just in the Cross of Jesus Christ, but within our own Cross which every believer is supposed to carry:

“And He said to all, If any person wills to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Luke 9:23

I used to think that denying myself was only just submitting my will to the will of the Lord, but what if it’s more than that? What if it’s denying my Natural Identity in order to embrace my Supernatural Identity in Christ?

The real you is no longer born of Adam. The real you in Christ is born of the Last Adam!

“And just as we have borne the image [of the man] of dust, so shall we and so [g]let us also bear the image [of the Man] of heaven.” 1 Corinthians 15:49

Bearing His Image is much more than just looking like Him, it is becoming Who He is in the earth itself. Christ In You the Hope of Glory! The real you in Christ will walk like Jesus, sound like Jesus, and act like Jesus, why? Because He’s in You!!!

It’s time to discard that old natural identity that you’ve been carrying around for years and embrace who you really are in Jesus Christ!

“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) HE IS A NEW CREATION (a new creature altogether); THE OLD [previous moral and spiritual condition] HAS PASSED AWAY. BEHOLD, THE FRESH AND NEW HAS COME!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

EMBRACE THE NEW YOU!
