One of the things I have come to know about the Lord is that even when it looks like the enemy is going to succeed in his plans against you, as a Son or a Daughter of God, the Holy Spirit steps in and (instead of a great victory) He hands the enemy a miserable defeat!
I call these kinds of things Divine Reversals:
“So [as the result of the Messiah’s intervention] they shall [reverently] fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. WHEN THE ENEMY SHALL COME IN LIKE A FLOOD, THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD WILL LIFT UP A STANDARD AGAINST HIM AND PUT HIM TO FLIGHT [for He will come like a rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives].” Isaiah 59:19
Many of us right now are probably feeling like the enemy is coming in like a flood, but there’s a Divine Reversal that’s coming (to the point) where all of the gains that the enemy thinks he has made are going to evaporate in the Presence of God!
The word “STANDARD” in this verse above doesn’t just mean a “FLAG” or “SIGN” to rally around in this situation, but it means to completely “VANISH AWAY”! So the Presence of God isn’t going to just defeat the Flood of the enemy coming, but the ENEMY IS GOING TO COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR FROM THE BATTLEFIELD BECAUSE OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD!
I believe that we are going to see many instances of Divine Reversals from the Presence of God in this season if we will only be willing to call unto Him in the midst of our battles.
“Asa cried to the Lord his God, O Lord, there is none besides You to help, and it makes no difference to You whether the one You help is mighty or powerless. Help us, O Lord our God! FOR WE RELY ON YOU, AND WE GO AGAINST THIS MULTITUDE IN YOUR NAME. O Lord, You are our God; let no man prevail against You! So the Lord smote the Ethiopians before Asa and Judah, and the Ethiopians fled. Asa and the people with him pursued them to Gerar; AND THE ETHIOPIANS WERE OVERTHROWN, SO THAT NONE REMAINED ALIVE; FOR THEY WERE DESTROYED BEFORE THE LORD AND HIS HOST, who carried away very much booty.” 2 Chronicles 14:11-13
It makes no difference how many there are (in numbers) coming against you because if the Lord is on your side, size and numbers mean nothing.
“What then shall we say to [all] this? IF GOD IS FOR US, WHO [CAN BE] AGAINST US? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?]” Romans 8:31
Maybe today you’re facing circumstances that seem to be overwhelming, but remember, God is able to Raise the Standard of His Presence and cause the enemy to completely evaporate from the battlefield! Trust the Lord for Divine Reversals to happen in every area of your life, and watch Him do exceedingly and abundantly above all that you ask or even think (Ephesians 3:20)!
